Saw this and could hear my older brothers voice saying "don't be so mean Mike". That is one killer ensemble.

(1) Thanks a lot, Mike.  Just when I thought I was done spending $$$ on clothes, you've given me something else to start collecting.

(2) I always pictured you as being taller than that . . .

First sign of the yearly Alden price increase, brown CXL boots are now close to $600 ($595). eek.gif

Wow, weren't they $512 (403 model for example)? I know that the LS Ultimate Indys are $585.

Can anyone speak to the differences between the Alden Chukka and the AE Dundee chukka? I know there are 2 lace holes for the Alden vs 3 for AE, but what about overall asthetic of the boot? Thanks in advance!

Katch - alden has 2 chukkas - one on barrie and one on the leydon last.  The barrie lasted chukka is very similar to the dundee.  Double leather soles, cordovan or calf, etc.  The leydon chukka is what is usually used for the suede leathers.  It is a narrower last for sure than the barrie.  Most people size up one width on the leydon last but take the length as true to size.  I sold my snuff suede leydon lasted chukkas because of the single leather sole.  It did not give me enough support when walking my daily routine.  If i drove to work and didn't walk nearly as much it would work for me.  If you specify which lasted chukka you are looking at others can chime in.  I'm sure mike or another member has side by side comparisons.

Thanks, NY. I'm looking at shell chukkas (Barrie). They look very similar aside from the 3 vs 2. I'm thinking the AE 3 lace patern may provide more support for me.

Not sure about the stock Indy boots, but you're right about the LS UI. I'm sure there is some variation from vendor to vendor (new EP makeups are ~$580 too), but LS' new run of Vanguard is $595.

I think we may see some non-shell breaking $600 soon! And I use to think $650 for AE shell strands were expensive!

Thanks for the info. I recently put a deposit down for the next run of the LS UI. Am I locked into the current price of $585?

Good question. Every retailer seems to be a bit different whether you are locked in at a price or not. I know Context and Leffot will lock you in at the price that the model is on the day they place the pre-order whereas I believe Epaulet does not. I'm not sure about LeatherSoul. FWIW I've just passed the two year mark on a couple pre-orders from LS (#8 Pitt Boot and #8 shortwing) with no delivery date in site. Thankfully, I only put $100 down on each one and I'm willing to continue waiting but it seems like these are pretty standard makeups that should have been delivered by now....
