CEE, this actually started about December of 2012, when I approached Kathy about doing a Ravello Indy Boot on the Plaza Last. I had gathered about 36 names from SF and submitted it to Kathy, who took it and submitted it to the factory in Spring of 2013 (they can only submit new designs in Fall and Spring). The factory rejected the proposal to make 36 Ravello Hand Stitched Boots. Enter Joe and Joseph, they really love the Grant Last and got Kathy to switch from my Plaza Indy to a Grant Indy, they wanted to do it in both Black and Color 8 on the Commando sole with Brass Eyelets and Hooks and that is what they sent into the factory. That is why I will frequently refer to this as the "Joseph Boot". Of course, all shoes made by Alden have to get approved by Mr. Tarlow, he approved it with the modification of using matching eyelets instead of brass. And that is how we got to the "Joseph Boot" that we have today.

There are/were lists for them, although I swear I was not on it, somehow a 10.5C was made for me. I believe that there were still some unsold Black Joseph Boots available and there should be an order of Color 8 Boots not too far behind them now... Lists for the Color 8 is a little longer, but varies based upon size of course.

A shoes with story make them even better.....! Thanks for sharing, Mike!

May I know who is Joe and Joseph?

lol....I had this thought....they have a few things in common.

1. PhD in Alden shoes studies.

2. A deep Alden shoes collection.

3. Their shoes never crease.

Mac could be buried under an avalanche of Aldens. Someone should probably go over and check on him.

I tried to buy the JCrew Indy yesterday in 9.5 and 10 and they were out. 9.5 was available today. They honored the code from yesterday and I got to apply a Jcrew giftcard to bring my Indy boot order to 375 delivered with tax. Looking forward to them!

Brass eyelets do more for that boot than the captoe...suede IMHO does not need to a captoe

Prez,
Both are very nice. I can see why you would let a pair go. How do you plan to wear them? The ct looks more formal for trouser pairings. The pt would go better casual.
