Natty cxl Indy from Alden on Madison:

I don't get to wear them often, but probably one of my top 3 favorites pairs.

Nice boot! I am going back and forth between the brown and natty CXL Indy boots. The brown CXL is a probably the most versatile pair of Indys out there in my opinion. Add a commando sole and darker welt and you've got yourself Ultimate Indy icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif from LS. I am about ready to put a deposit down on the next run. Will at LS said the next run should be available by the end of the year, possibly sooner. Long wait, but well worth it. FYI, my one and only pair of Indys so far are snuff suedes from Alden SF.

Thanks! I agree, the brown cxl boot is a great choice.  I tend to prefer tan/walnut, lighter browns which is why I went with the natty cxl.  The snuff suede indy is also a fantastic model.  I try to limit myself to one pair per model otherwise I would consider picking it up.  To be honest, I think the oringal indy 405 is the best model available.  The leather has a really great and rich color.  I might sell these and pick them up.

I tend to prefer tans and lighter browns as well. I like the softness and feel of CXL. I wish there was a color in between natty and brown. That would be my ideal color. Anyway, I want an Indy with commando sole and darker welt and you can't go wrong with the LS Ultimate Indy. I don't mind having multiple pairs of of the same model and I am a boot guy at heart.

Those are nice!  I looked on their website, but didn't see any Aldens.  Are these new or something they offered in the past?

Congrats on your recent acquisitions!

Thanks Cee. I know this is an Alden thread but your C&J loafers are really amazing. Nice style and shade.

Got in on the Epaulet black shell plain toe boot preorder. I've never had Barrie lasted boots before. I tried on a pair of Indy's on the Barrie yesterday for size. Is there any reason the plain toe should fit differently or am I good to go?

They will fit the same.

Current bid on these is $170. I'm guessing they go for a little more than that......

If you like monk straps, this is an amazing shoe. Flawless shade of whiskey.

Congrats! You'll make a lot old timers jealous with the shitkickers. The Indys are actually on the tru balance last but fits similarly to the Barrie. You should be fine.

Wel done Sir. I can see why you rank them so high. And natty CXL will age so well. But why can't you wear very often? Weather?

I wonder where those came from.  I would think they fetch a descent price.  Too bad they are E width.

Thanks!  I am in a suit/sport coat & slacks most of the year Monday - Thursday and sometimes fridays as well.  So that only leaves me one or two days a week to wear them.  I have other boots so I only get them into rotation a  few times a month.  I also try to avoid wearing them in poor weather - I know its kinda crazy, but I rather prefer to keep the welt, stitching, leather in pristine condition.  I stop wearing most of my boots spring/summer so my loafers/boat shoes etc. get a chance in the rotation.  For sure they are a fantastic model - if I ever thin the herd these will be staying.  They were my first aldens ever purchased.

Orginally purchased last September I believe

For some reason I thought the auction indicated Alden of Madison. I love whiskey and I really like monk straps, but together they don't work for me as much as I would have expected. My guess is that if I had a shot at these at normal retail (just paid $750 for whiskey PTB's), I would seriously consider them. I don't thing the E width will stop these from fetching close to a $1k. 9.5E on Aberdeen is probably close to 9.5D on barrie, which is a pretty common size.

But I am curious as well on how many were made as well. I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist, but I've often suspected some less than ethical activity going on with these rare make ups that no one hears about that end up on EBAY listing for hundreds over retail.
