For preventing them from catching on the hems, one trick that works for me is to lace it up normally -> then tie the first twist of the laces at the top -> then take the laces parallelly down the row of hooks, and tie the final knot there, or bring it back up along the hooks and tie the knot at the top. This way the hooks are filled-in, and less likely to catch the hem. Of course this requires that the laces are long enough, and not very thick. Also if the hooks are already bowed/flared out, the above might not help very much

Thanks for the tip.  I'll try that on my next wear.

For any dudes wanting these, I spoke with Will at LS last week and he said he has enough interest to run these again. He is planning to submit the order to Alden in Feb, he says. Give a call to Will if you've got the choco tanker jones!

Does it come with the stonework as well?

PROBLEM : As a european living in europe, i'd like to get the alden alt wein with barrie last. I'm ordering them on the net at epaulet NY and getting them from a friend visiting europe next month... Problem is i haven?t got a clear idea on the size i should order them. I've tried mocassins with aberdeen last size 9E, and they fit perfect , so what size do you alden experts think i should order these? And ultimately would you purchase as i do, without even trying the pair?foo.gif

Your Welcome.

I would not, at all, call myself an expert.

Maybe some of the other gentlemen could give you a better recommendation.

Thanks!

Yes Sir.

I know that when Ed Z of TSM recommended the Aberdeen, for me, it was one width out from my Barrie.

So, Aberdeen 10EE for me.

So, yes, the OP could be a 9D as well.
