On another note I got a new AE horse hair brush. It makes shining the shoes worse, like super cloudy?? Any ideas??

I had the same problem with new AE brushes but they get better after numerous uses though.

It's kinda of funny because cheap Kiwi brushes do a better job than AEs.

Dave, just give up or stop following this thread. Please see the FAQ... ;-) Both are beautiful and I can see why you broke down.

Nice Alden x Leffot Tankers. Those are beauties!

Chippy, those look pretty clean to me! I find that Chukkas are crease city! Looking good and enjoy your Thursday!

Ha, nice job Kahuna! Have a good one and enjoy your Suede Boots!

Mr. Box, you are looking terrific in your Barrie Snuff Wingtips! Have a great Thursday!

Buz, looking relaxed in your glove-like Unlined Suede Chukkas. I have found that particular model harder for me to fit and still haven't decided what size I like the best.

Nice combination Inn8, not sure how you get your feet through those tiny leg holes. You must use a funnel or something to get into those... ;-) Love the Suede Boots though.

LoanShark, those are beautiful Tassels. The BB is the best Tassel. Enjoy them in the best of health. P.S. I can not think of a better Alden model for someone named LoanShark... ;-)

Joe, those are absolutely outstanding! Enjoy them in the best of health!

Henry, looking great in your Wingtip Boots!

DonL, always looking great in your Suede Chukkas! I love the Plaza Lasts impact on that model. :-)

D, looking great in your Suede Cap Toe Boots! Sorry to hear about your sizing issues! :-(

D, another great Alden x Leffot Tanker example! :-)

-Mike

Gents,

Good evening. So far it looks like everybody has had a great Alden week. Solid showings from many of you.

Last year was a big year for me in terms of Alden purchases. I definitely went overboard, acquired about 6 or 7 pair including #2 LWB, cigar cap toe and medallion toe boots, Ravello chukkas, #8 boots, and some Natty CXL options. I also pre-ordered a pair of Ravello wingtip boots from Alden Madison that I am expecting in the next month or two. As a result, I promised myself that I would take it very easy in 2015 regarding new Alden purchases. Not go crazy. Pace myself. Be reasonable.

And then this happened today:

Thanks guys! I'm definitely a "boot guy"! I will have to take a look at that boot thread. Could be dangerous though...

Your experience seems to be common, though others here stick with the same size.

Agree. My 975s are very comfy with room. The JCrew PCT boot is like a perfect snug fit. Going forward I'm going to take a 9.5D Barrie shoe and 10D Boot.

At present my two best fitting pairs are 9E 975s and 9.5D J. Crew PCT.

I have a 9E LHS (Van last), which fits my left (larger) foot quite well, but there is definite heel slip in my right foot, which is about 0.5 size smaller.

I tried a 9D suede Barrie Chukka from J. Crew but had to send them back because they were too tight at the left small toe.

The Saphir brushes are nice, and I like the yak hair brushes offered at the Hanger Project to put a finishing shine on my shoes.

Yea, I don't post much, but I've got quite the shell boot collection myself.... Just got two pair today as a matter of fact...

Thanks guys, they did crease a bit today! But I will get em back to normal... ;-)

Yes, I had a Strap-Full week this week... I am off of work tomorrow, so I completed my Full-Strap week already... ;-) I like Full-Straps as they are the loafer that can go up in formality up to a suit and still look appropriate.
