Good looking boot, durable in wet weather, commando sole. I'm really glad I have it (I've owned a CXL few Indy boots in the past and this is the best). I will probably wear my cigar Indy tomorrow as it will be drier. IMO if you are an Alden fan, you really need a CXL boot on commando soles.

2) On Viberg vs Alden - Viberg's service boots are great and well constructed. Are they worth $200 more then Aldens? Depends on your style really. My issue with the Vibergs I owned was the dainite sole - I busted my ass twice while wearing my Viberg boots due to slippy surfaces. They are pretty dangerous for city walking IMO. Alden commando soles are significantly better for that purpose.
Recently, Alden on Madison stocked the 403 on commando.  You are right on the money Alci...  If I had to do it over again, I'd go with 403 on commando or the Innsbrook Indy.  My LWB version will have to do for now.

My cigar Indy is on commando and my cxl Indy on the neocork sole...and agree wish my cxl was commando some days. My viberg dainite is really broken in to the point were it is very rough and has great grip now.....I have a lot of other boots and shoes on dainite and issue is they can be slick for many wears and with my shoe rotation being high I am not sure they will ever get to the point my vibergs are. I luckily have never hit the deck from them and I only shy away from it for real boots or shoes that are going to see the most weather issues.

I missed out on the last run of the LS Ultimate Indys. Per Will at LS, they have my size available in the next run. They require a $100 non-refundable but transferable deposit and will be available within a year, with no exact ETA. I asked Will when can I realistically expect to have a pair of Ultimate Indys in my hands. He said this run will be available by end of the year, possibly even sooner. How realistic are these estimates? I really want some CXL Indy's with commado soles. And that is a long time to wait!

Call Alden Madison.  If you are good with the 403 on commando they have plenty in stock ( at least as of a few weeks ago).  I haven't heard anyone else here talk about them, so I assume they have plenty.

I checked with Alden Madison back in early December and they had my size in stock. I'll check back with them. I prefer the darker edge trim on the LS Ultimate Indy. Other than that and the wax laces, is it the same as the Alden Madison 403 on commando?

Thanks everybody for the information. So all in all Epaulet's Innsbruck CXL LWB is similar to Alden of Carmel's Brown leather LWB on commander (another casual make up I'm interested in). Which shoe would you recommend out of these two?

If you are talking about the AF140...  https://www.alden-of-carmel.com/Shoes-Brown_Wing_Tip_235.htm

I prefer the Innsbrook without question.  For an all-purpose, weather-beater on commando, I'll take the chrmxl with the eyelets.  I have that same brown calf LWB with double leather soles.  It's a nice shoe that I have worn a great deal in its lifetime (4 years).  But I reach for the Innsbrook MUCH more frequently now

The epaulet pre-orders are being pulled any minute. The Natty & Brown Innsbruck are fierce.

Unfortunately, Alden Madison is out if my size. I am considering the Epaulet Innsbruck Indy, but not sure if I am crazy about the brass eyelets I'll probably go with the LS Ultimate Indy. .

I apologize if this has been asked before, I've done some cursory searching in the thread and didn't turn up an answer.

I am interested in getting some LWB's to wear with grey/khaki/blue chinos and jeans. Love the Alden version, specifically the tobacco color in the JCrew colab. A few questions:

1) How is the fit of JCrew's version compared to to other versions on the Barrie last?

2) Are there other iterations of this model thru other retailers (EPaulet, Leather Soul, etc.) with a similar color I can be pointed to? I want more of a medium brown, not too dark.

3) Has JCrew been known to put their Aldens on sale? I watched them over the holidays and every sale excluded 'non JCrew brand' products. If they do go on sale, any idea how often and how much they come down to typically?

4) How accurate is the color on JCrew's site? The real world pics make it look a bit darker.

Thanks in advance.

1. The fit is the same as other versions
2. http://www.theshoemart.com/alden-mens-long-wing-new-dark-tan/pvc-ald-mxsdlw-97641_ald_m_long_wing.html
3. They only go on sale when there is an error on a code. This happens very infrequently, though it has happened.
