NO THERE MUST BE ARGUMENT.
THERE MUST BE CXL CONTROVERSY.
GIVE ME ARGUMENT OVER CXL CONTROVERSY.

I've got the Brown CXL PCTs and love them. I was a little reluctant with the natural welt, but now wear them all the time and even rock them at work on Fridays with chinos. Can't speak to the Vibergs.

I have a few Vibergs and quite a few Alden boots.  I love them both; they're just quite different.  I would say the build quality and materials on the Vibergs are a notch above Aldens but not by a huge amount.  I just love the variety and the option to choose boots from different makers every morning.

Man, I'm sorry I posted this before I read the subsequent back and forth.  No desire to derail this thread as I do really love Aldens as well.

Great combo, @prez. Ravello and blue are great together. I might have to look into these CHUP socks. They make those in OTC?

Looking great Henry! Nice Ravellos and socks... Does look quite familiar...

Adam, those are great looking boots and I would be hard pressed to let them go if they were in my closet. A Shell Indy would be a suitable replacement in my opinion.

Hit it on the head, great boots from Alden, Viberg, and lots of other companies out there.

The 270 welt is a great touch.

Anyone ever try a different color polish on cigar shell to give it more depth? I read that navy polish on burgundy shell gives the leather more depth; curious if anyone has experimented with cigar shell. Thought about burgundy or mahogany Saphir polish.

I agree I enjoy my AE, EG, and Aldens equally. However a little banter can be a good thing sometimes. I have yet to own a pair of vibergs which imo are more difficult to obtain than rare shells.

Getting Aldens is enough of a pita and annoying enough that I don't even attempt to get Vibergs.

I have been debating the same thing for some time, I came to the conclusion that the 403 is a classic and needs to stay in the collection. The real answer is to get both haha, a cigar indy in now on my wish list. I also need a cigar PTB at some point as I am always amazed at the pics of them.

Indeed, they are keepers!

I've actually been thinking of getting a pair of indy boots. How does the 405 look in person? My gf can get me a discount on the 403s but I'd be paying full price for the 405s. Worth it to get the original?

A guy came into the cigar shop I frequent in a pair of 405's yesterday, i have seen a pair of Alden's in the wild for a solid 2 to 3 years. They were well worn and looked good by any metric.
