Same leather, but different weights.  I'd say that's the reason most say Viberg is better quality and I'd have to agree on that point, but only when comparing CXL boots.  Viberg doesn't use gemming, they're stitchdown construction not welted.

I haven't handled a pair of vibergs but I cant imagine the quality being significantly better than aldens. I don't think its about the quality, but moreso about the style. Do you like the style enough to justify the price?

I do find the "manly workboot" thing pretty cool, but not to justify the $700ish price.

Others do find it cool enough to cough up that much, while they are hesitant to purchase a pair of $650 black cordovan captoe balmorals.

And there's people with so much discretionary cash that they buy every style across multiple makers.

Oh lord, not the gemming thing again.

Viberg CXL is superior to Alden CXL, IMO. This really is not mich of a debate if you have handed both in person. I love Alden and own more pairs than I should but it's really quite apparent when you handle both. Anyway no reason to reason to derail an Alden thread when there are a million other threads to discuss this

Indiana Jones wore Aldens, not Vibergs.

@reggieandtfe not sure if you have had dainite before bit it does take time to break in. Then becomes amazingly comfortable.

Agree the Alden Commando is a great sole combo

Vibergs are great. Aldens are great. But at $750, give me cordovan boots over cxl boots every time.

Viberg does more than CXL.

There are more leathers in the world than Shell and CXL.
