I'm thrilled to add these to the collection and can't wait to wear them!

Chris - awesome boot! Congrats dude!

Would appreciate the perspective of those with more than a handful of Aldens on this...which of the following plain toed shoes do you find yourself wearing the most for practicality (in terms of being suitable for outfit and climate)?

Color 8 PTB
Cigar PTB
Leffot Color 8 Dover (antique edge)
Cigar Dover
Snuff suede Dover
It seems that the more accomplished Alden collectors on here eventually whittle down to Color 8 for shell and/or suede offerings for week-to-week comfort/versatility reasons, despite the sexiness of the rare shells and flashy edging/welts. For reference, I already own the 975 (highly versatile!).
It depends on your everyday needs. I dress casual to work, I would chose leffot #8 Dover and snuff suede Dover as most versatile from that group.

Damn! Me too! I still remember I called him "Uncle Mike" in my first PM to Mike. Sorry Mike lol!!

I think we have this feeling because Mike is so knowledgeable about shoes  and we put him in the same group with "Uncle Mac"

I'm also quite surprised! Dubs posts with a gravitas and depth of knowledge that bespeaks a much older gentleman (at least compared to my relatively low intellectual maturity LOL). Shocked that he's likely younger than I am (36)!

Somehow I knew given mdubs methodical logical strategy to acquire moar rare shell Aldens that he was an engineer.
He's clearly educated and his maturity shows through in his posts; I can't imagine him bickering or being vulgar. Made me punctuate my PMs a bit more and disregard trolling posts. Hah! (shame on me, was an editor before)

Anyone have a photo of their #8 Dover or PTB with an antique edge? How do they look as time goes on?

Definitely one of the classiest gentlemen that I've met on the Internets.

I like to think of mdubs as a mischievous badger.

I like to imagine @mdubs as the lead singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd with a band of angels behind him and I'm in the front row, hammered drunk.

Nephews, thank you very much. Yes Zippy, I am very much an engineer at heart and have that approach and type of mentality in general. Yes, budapest, I am mischievous badger (not really even sure what that means). Saca, you should always write with proper grammar when possible and your iPhone doesn't autocorrect it for you and bickering or cursing doesn't typically get you anywhere. :-)

Have a good one guys!

-Mike
