I'm thrilled to add these to the collection and can't wait to wear them!

Come to think of it I do remember those two being 10.5Ds. I got to check yours out in store and they looked stunning. If TSM had the 11D I would have swooped it up. Just waiting for the next run now. Didn't realize they were all eyelets though!

More seriously, I am early 30's and in Engineering Management (an electrical engineering who got "promoted" into management).

Need any ME's wink.gif

Then I wouldn't feel so bad about SF at work.

Where was the EE from?

Also early 30s in engineering. Late start into the shoe game.

Hey Ross, what kind of leather good do you make?

Triumphs, I assume bikes but I had a 68 Triumph TR250 (car) in high school.  Fun car but not practical for driving all the time...wish I still had it!

Time to dig in...

Cigar Indy Boot (all eyelets), Ravello CT Boot shaped to the Grant Last - both on commando sole, so I'll actually get some serious use out of them.  I had to compare to the recent Ravello Wingtip Boot...

More pics, but I'll spoiler below! Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I love the look of the Grant last and I'm excited that it fits much better than a typical Barrie lasted boot.  The Trubalance last/indy boot is surprisingly the most comfortable last for me so far.  It fits extremely well, but just has an insanely large toe box.  The rest of the last is awesome.  They're definitely clunky and casual.  But I'm a huge fan!
Wow Chris. Congrats. Instant enviable collection!

How quickly do these usually go? I'm interested in the Inssbruck Longwing but I've never tried on an Alden so I'm not sure what size I'd be. I normally wear a 7.5, though and have Frye's in both 7 and 7.5. Any tips on choosing the correct sizing of the Alden Longwing?

These are on the Barrie last so conventional wisdom is to size down a half size from what you normally take. Barrie tends to run long and relatively wide.

For reference I wear a size 9 in most American shoe brands (Allen Edmonds, etc.) and take an 8.5 in Barrie. I fit comfortably in the 8.5 and would never dream of even trying a 9, unless I wanted to stuff about an inch of cotton into the shoe as padding. I don't have experience with Frye, unfortunately, but I have met very few people that take Barrie-lasted shoes TTS.

Hope this helps!

I find all my trousers at thrift stores, I think it's fun to look and them have them tailored to fit. That way I can spend more $$ on boots. :)

hi gents,

need some help to get the sizing right for my third pair of aldens - the 2 pair i have gets uncomfortable after a while.
They are of the barrie last and the grant last. both are cordovan if it matters.

In the Barrie last, they are a pair of 8D and in the Grant last, a 9D.
For these two pair of boots, when i wear them to walk, after some distance I will feel pain in my 4th toe ( The biggest toe being the first, counting down) from it rubbing the insides of the boots toebox.

So I'm wondering what approach to the sizing should i be looking at to avoid this - a half size bigger or a width increase? Love my aldens, want to get my third pair, and from then on all in the correct sizing hopefully.

still a 50/50 chance of it going wrong, since im left with 2 options, up half a size or going from D width to E... hopefully u guys can eliminate that chance of it going wrong for me..

thanks.
