I was in there a couple months ago and asked for an update. My answer was "Alden and updates aren't usually used in the same sentence". I don't think they know until they get them.

Agreed and accepted. However, regardless of the customer, there should always be a courtesy extended. I've been to the store 2-3 times and each time the staff is in the back somewhere. A minute or two later someone walks out, says hello, and just sits at their desk.

Yeah, I know many are not huge fans of Leffot but I am pretty sure they don't get many updates from Alden on this stuff.  The shoes come when they come, hence the disclaimer in the pre-order that it is usually 12-16 weeks but could be more.  FWIW, I've generally had good experiences with Leffot, especially when dealing with Steven and Che.  I've also had some guy whose service skills are second to a wet noodle.  Can't remember his name and wouldn't repeat it here anyway if I did.

I don't have an issue with Leffot, either. I accepted that answer. There isn't a retailer that I've worked with for any brand that has any more info than "they get here when they get here". The updates are usually "Production started" and "Received".

+1!

I've had several Pre-orders through Leffot and been very pleased with their responses and updates.  I think part of the delays on some make ups is the holidays.  I know Alden shuts down for a while, and in addition I'm sure many employees take vacation between Thanksgiving and year end.  I'm on several other pre-orders from other Alden retailers, and past pre-orders from the larger retailers and none have given much info other than order submitted, and in production.  Nor would I: be ask for more than that.  Some orders take longer based on what requirements that particular make up needs.

See Ya,

Steve

@tifosi Yes, unfortunately, the vendors are typically left in the dark as much as we are and the factory does not seem to be in the business of providing up to the second updates as to where shoes are in production. However, I have found that they do get a production start date and it is usually very close to 14 weeks after that date that they arrive. Many confuse this with confirmation date though, which is when the materials are confirmed to be in. Of course when you deal with hand stitched patterns, timelines can go out the window as they only have 3 kind soles who do all the hand stitching and it only takes a flu to slow them down significantly. :-D

She was actually pretty kind. It's "about that time" for the reverse chamois WT boot to arrive, but no definite ETA.

Don, looking great in your #8 Tassels. I must say that you are rather purple today, but that does compliment the Eggplant #8's very well.

Buz, your Whiskey LHSes are looking superb. Enjoy them and do not just stick them in a closet until spring if possible. :-)

Haven. They just got a bunch in and with the Canadian dollar the way it is it was best to buy from someone selling in CAD. $35 a pair which seemed like an ok deal from what I have seen online.

They are all and more. I bought 3 pairs off J. Crew sales this holiday. $14.99 each. Over 50% off.
