Thank you. I honestly doubt that they will sell. Just wanted to set the price high to attract some views in a good way. But it seems like some people are hating it.

people are hating it because it's profiteering from a TSM irregular sale. you knowingly bought seconds and inflated the price 300%. it's one thing if you bought irregulars and genuinely didn't like/want them, but it's another thing entirely when you buy an irregular to flip because you're trying to take advantage of the shell 'shortage.'

You are right. I am indeed taking advantage of the market needs. I know some people have strong opinion on people flipping things as an investment(houses included)

There are profiteers in every hobby/community. Rubs me the wrong way too but if someone is stupid enough to pay $1200 for seconds then that's their problem.

I don't really mind it as the market ultimately decides on the price - refer to the color 4 boots.

If somebody buys it for 1.2K, I'm sure many users here will attempt to unload their collection as well.

Man, if somebody actually paid 1.2k for seconds...this market is insane. I would be shock if anybody actually pays more than $500. In a way, I hope he sells it for 1.2k, haha. It only means everybody's Alden collection just went up in value.

I agree that there are profiteers in every community - i'm not arguing against that. I was merely responding to patina's comment. I don't have a stake in any of this, nor do I really care either way. but like you said, if someone is dumb enough to pay $1200 for seconds then it's a win for patina

I personally don't see an issue with you making any profit someone is willing to pay. I know you're catching some crap on this forum, but thats to be expected. As long as you accurately list the item for sale and reveal they are 2nds then buyer be aware. I will say that even though you don't accept returns, eBay will throw you under the bus if the buyer raises enough stink.
What the staring price is up to you, either they sell or they don't. I see no difference on these shoes than selling anything else in high demand above cost., above retail, or market price. I've seen a lot of posts about prices of rare color shell shoes on this forum, theres even a guy asking $2k for a pair of cigar chukkas on eBay. Who cares? I've seen posts on this forum I would pay XXXX amount for this shoe or boot if it was available. We know TSM has sold shoes as ends when in fact they were not. Alden has many products that should be 2nds, but sold as 1sts. With eBay its a World Wide market Over the years I've sold thousands of baseball cards on eBay. Many of those cards I bought for $10.00 and sold for hundreds...no name rookies become super stars. I took the risk those rookies would make it Prime Time just as you have taken the risk that these shoes will sell for a handsome profit. Thats called free enterprise!

@tifosi should be very proud. I feel I got a fairly good deal on these NSTs.

Long time no posting here Gents. I have a very scary thought..(same as mr. @tifosi had some time ago :) I might be moving my Leffot #8 Tankers once they are ready or transferring my deposit if Leffot will allow it.

Going to EG Galway and need to free up some funds :embar: Just a thought though, might keep it!

Yep...I still think about unloading mine. I'm actually wearing them today and it's tough to think about selling them at the moment. It would help with my Rosewood Galway purchase...but, damn, these are just so nice!

Nice that you aren't accepting returns on the factory seconds you purchased for ~$400. However, I really do appreciate the opportunity to "inspect each picture carefully" prior to purchase, especially as you don't accept returns (unlike TSM). They are seconds for a reason, and that reason might not be immediately clear from looking at your pictures. A reasonable listing might include some photos taken in direct sunlight, giving the potential buyer the chance to see the natural characteristics of the shell.

Also, I take it your listing should read "shade" instead of "shape" when discussing the color? Yeez, I'd have thought you would at least try to make the listing appealing, especially considering you're trying to flog these off for a ~300% profit.

FYI the seconds in cigar, revallo, and whiskey are now $499. So total cost with shipping is $509.

Steve,

I agree with you. Ebay is ebay people sell stuff there to make money, there is no reason to be critical of that.

which makes that random TSM sale of firsts last yr in cigar, ravello, and whiskey at $450 a piece so bizarre

anyhow, thanks TSM!
