I vote snuff suede.
The kudu are on the Barrie last and combined with the lug sole make them too clunky for me.
(This despite the fact I just got some double sole Barrie last Ravello chukkas which are probably equally high on the clunky scale.)

alden suede unlined chukka--

my damn heels keep sliding across tiled floors. everywhere i step or take a sharp turn i slip a little, making my steps feel unsure. i'm not sure if alden hammered in the nails deep enough. the bottoms of the shoes are pretty worn in now-- it's been a good four days of walking in them.

should this go away or do i need to take this back to the dc store?

My Alden's do not slip. My Darlton's are killers though. I am not sure the store will be able to do anything for you.

never had this problem with my aldens, but I had the same issue with my Vass boots. Vass places nails in the rubber heel which makes no sense to me. I almost fell on ****** several times. Took a while for the issue to go away.

For me though, I find Van lasted shoes very very uncomfortable, and the BB LHS fits my foot well.
Curious, a quick search of the forums reveals more posters asserting that Alden has told them the BB LHS is on the Van. Alden has made loafers on the Copley, which is a rounder-toe version of the Aberdeen, basically. The Copley is a narrower last. It does not compute that the BB LHS would run bigger than the Alden LHS (it does) if it is on the Copley. A Copley-lasted loafer should fit more like an Aberdeen-lasted loafer (the full strap). In pictures the shape of current BB LHS looks like the Alden LHS. And the roomier fit and lighter feel is generally attributed to the lack of lining. Also we have mcarthur / michaelw asserting recently (on AAAC) that it's on the Van. I think he knows his Aldens. No offense but it sort of looks like you pop into the threads to assert it's on the Copley and everyone else assumes / has been told it's on the Van. Man I love the internet with all of its babel. The simplest explanation is that it has been on both, I guess, at different times. And caveat emptor for online shoppers as always.

I've got two pairs of unlined chukkas and don't really have this problem.

I have almost killed myself a couple times with this pair though.

You're entitled to your opinion. I'm simply sharing my experience. I would say my Alden for BB loafers fit exactly like the full strap loafer with a fuller toe.

I have the snuff suede chukkas- great shoes. I wear them all the time. I do have to say that dark jeans tend to discolor the suede, if that is a concern. Also, they have stretched alot; probably half a size.

I think they are the usual #8 shell shoes and boots, not brown (ie cogar or ravello). It is just the lighting that is making you think they are brown. FYI, #8 fades to a beautifully mellow brown color with time.
