^ Ditto. I just saw these at the J. Crew store in SoHo. They're very sturdy boots.

I didn't think they sold Alden boots besides Chromexcel Indys at J. Crew. That store does have a bunch of non-website stuff, though...

Figured I'd link this here, these are just a bit tight, if they don't sell I may send them for reconstruction, but I figured I'd try to just move them on.

If you find them, tell me because I want basically the same thing.

They jumped out at me in the store since I had seen Ahab's irregulars on here. They were $440 IIRC, just like the longwings.

Interesting. The seconds had to come from some run. I love them but want to wear them more before giving a recommendation. $440 is not bad and if I would have known where to get top quality I would probably have sprung for them. Mine were almost $300.

Shoemart had irregulars in both J. Crew longwings too. I bought a pair of first qualities from Crew but also grabbed a pair of the irregulars. I snagged the first qualities at a discount so I'm almost thinking of keeping them and using the seconds as beaters since one of the shoes has a fairly noticable defect in the leather.

I also wondered if they were Roys, but these have eyelets all the way up (Roys don't)

Indys:
I got a pair about 2 weeks ago, and I am also experiencing the tongue sliding to the side issue, though it doesnt really bother me in terms of comfort at all...

I did take the advice of a fellow poster who decided to sort of 'mold' the tongue to the desiered centered area, and it's been working well to some effect, though I predict in a few weeks or a month it'll be rectified almost wholly. Just a thought if anyone else was considering sending them to a tailor to have a stitching added to a side...

I was told that my boots were made specifically for a store 25 years ago, modeled after the Alden Indy, but this has eyelets all the way up and no toe-stitching. The box it came in says the model number is "540" (I was told that it was a play on Indy's 405). It's black oiled nubuck but a lot thicker and tougher than W+H service boot nubuck with a neoprene sole on Tru-Balance last, I think. That's about all the information I have on it...I haven't been able to find anything else about it. It's holding up great, even after hiking and slipping all over the place. The original laces broke, so those are leather laces in there. Sadly, on our way back from the trip I hit a cat going 60 and a part of my car came undone, so I had to take the laces and secure it to the car so it wouldn't scrape against the ground.

Does anyone know where I can get replacement laces for Aldens or W+H service boots? I actually need both, hah.
