thanks jhcam8 and MS007. the thing is I am more concerned over the look compared to the size. But you are right. Hate to do this as I really like them. I guess they'll be up for sale soon.....

I think they look enormous in your final picture. Not only that, the way the shoes droop around your foot when they're laced makes it totally clear they are nowhere near your size.

I had to get rid of pair of Ravello short wings that were .5 to long and one width too wide. It was hard to do but that pair fit me much much better than yours appear to fit you. Just bite the bullet and send them off to someone else. Consider it an act of good "Alden Karma".

Chromexcel with commando sole from Winn Perry. They were supposed to be longwings, but oh well.

Re. looks: they look ok to me. i.e., not too long, but I know what you mean when you're looking at them in the mirror.

size-wise, only you will ever notice the difference between 11 and 12. other people will not notice. you might not want to wear ultra slim trou with them. otherwise the two sizes will look the same i think to most people. you can definitely make the sizing work with an insole. these are boots. but, the concern i would have, is that the shell ripples are going to be vicious on shoes that are not well sized for your feet. they could be looking like a pair of turds pretty quick. shell veterans (i am not much of one) can correct confirm or correct this opinion, but i am pretty sure that a poor fit will produce more deep and pronounced ripples. with calf the extra distortion from the poor fit is not as big a deal in boots. all you get are more fine wrinkly lines.

The wingtips boots look good on you. They dont look big to me. The only thing I would be worried about is the wrinkling that will indefinitely occur.

I'd say, if can use and insole and they feel good, keep them. My wing tip boots fit similarly around the vamp but are pretty comfortable. It allows me to wear a thicker sock, which I think is quite normal for boot wear anyway. The key, though, is how do they feel to "You?"

It's just my opinion but those are too big.

I have never, ever been happy with a pair of shoes that weren't the right size. No matter how beautiful they were.

I know it will be hard to say goodbye but I would send them off to the next guy.

Sorry man but those are too big, they look empty even with your feet in them.

Agreed, too big. Sell them and apply the proceeds to your
correct size even if you have wait/save a little longer

FYI: I was at the Alden factory a couple of weeks ago and there were a bunch of Ravello wing boots for Shoemart being made

Some low-quality indoor pics of my Indys in #8 shell. Posted here to show the proportions on in size 13, for those of us on the right-hand side of the bell curve.
