Great! Finally an explanation as to why John Edwards defeated Mitt Romney last Tuesday.

Oh wait . . .

That's a red herring. Nobody with any credibility claims that only looks matter. In fact, John Edwards himself seems to think that his appearance might work against him. There definitely can be a penalty for attractiveness. And, as with Mitt Romney, a cold-looking form of attractiveness might not be appealing. A lesson to be learned from the case study is that unattractiveness likely hurts more than attractiveness helps.

Funding from the study was from the National Inst. Child Health, which is part of NIH. That is, YOU PAID FOR IT if you are an American who pays taxes.

What a fucking waste of money. Expect more of this as Obama "Spreads the Wealth Around".

Would ANYBODY pay for such a study if it were their own money? Not a chance.

But "Intellectual" professors... in useless Sociology departments... get paid to conduct/write a worthless study. Then they get bonus money from their schools for publishing such "drivel" (to use a word they'd like) - or worthless, tedious, boring garbage - if you want accuracy.

This is great news, for the DNC!

It's a waste of money because you already know that looks matter for adolescents? The study demonstrates that it can affect the life course, which in itself probably justifies the cost. If, for example, it were to lead to dress codes or more complicated, less oppressive ideas for reducing teen depression, underage drinking, the avoidance of "uncool" hobbies such as science, and so on, how could that not be good?

Do people want to be honest about why they dislike the idea of researching the ramifications of attractiveness?
