non-dessert uses for nutmeg

One of my favorite dishes that uses nutmeg is lasagna.

What are some other non-dessert dishes that feature nutmeg? What does nutmeg really seem to go well with? Any interesting things to combine nutmeg with?

Sauteed spinach. Use a whole nutmeg and a microplane.

It's great on a lot of different veggies. Butternut squash. Plus, cream-based pasta sauces. I have used it on braised chicken, too.

Extremely quick and sating: spaghetti with butter, fresh parm. reg. and nutmeg. Melt big knob of butter in pot with residual heat after draining pasta. Re-introduce drained pasta, cheese and nutmeg. Mix well and serve while still piping hot.

Interesting. I never would have thought about nutmeg and spinach. I'll have to try it.

I guess because of lasagna, I'm used to the idea of nutmeg and pasta, and so it sounds delicious.

I do this with ravioli that don't go well with tomato sauce rather than spaghetti, but I'm sure it's quite good that way as well. Any good bechamel sauce includes a wee bit of nutmeg. OT: Are you native Modenese? One of my best friends is from right around there.

Nutmeg is amazing on Broccoli or any member of the cabbage family...sprinkle a bit on and it gets rid of that telltale "Cabbage-y" stench.

Creamed spinach as well. Nearly tasteless without it.

Ingested in large amounts, it causes delirium for extended periods. Taken with a friend, it can afford shared auditory and visual hallucinations. Good on buttered toast with honey and cinammon.

You can also put it in chili...

No non-food nutmeg uses, but I've used ginger root in marital relations

Lamb with orange peels, cardamom, fresh ground black pepper, tiny bit of cloves, ginger, garlic, and microplaned nutmeg. Garnished with crispy shallots and the oil they were fried in (tons of infused flavour there)
served with fresh cilantro-almond pesto. Yum!!!!
