LL Bean Boots -- which height?

Which height would you guys recommend for Bean Boots -- 8" or 10"? I don't like the Gumshoe or 6" models, and anything higher than 10" -- too high.

I just bought a pair of 6". I'm thinking about 8" in the darker color.

I have the 10" in Bison leather but I am going to get another pair in a 6" height since it rarely gets cold enough for me to wear the 10" ones.

I have the 10's, and I couldn't imagine going with anything lower. Then again I live in the Northeast and the snow often piles up to a foot.

Good point, ingraman. I own the 8", but I live in the South and use them more for farm chores.

What is this snow of which you speak?

I have the 10" Bean boot, as well as the Gumshoe, and consider both models indispensable! The Gumshoes are convenient for pulling on for quick runs out, when the weather conditions get soggy.

Thanks for your input, y'all.

It's frustrating ... since here in the South snow is rare, I don't really need the 10", but considering that 10" seems to be the classic height (since it's always the style shown when you see the models in the LL Bean catalog wearing Bean Boots), it's hard for me not to be tempted to choose those! Catalog photos can be VERY tempting to go by when choosing style!

^^ Go with 6" imo, height enough to be a boot if you dont intend/need to tuck into them. I got a 10" pair aswell as gumshoes, and im looking to get a pair of classic 6" or 8 " next, since they got better wrist support than gumshoes, but still are easier to get on and probably less warm than 10".

Wrist support? Don't you mean ankle support?
^^ yea, of course. English is not my first language. In swedish, "vrist" refers to the ankle part, hence the confusion.

sorry to bump a thread that is 3 years old, but does anyone have the 10" brown/brown bean boots??

New 100th Anniversary Maine Hunting Shoes (Bean Boots) just released. Looks like they replicate the original 1912 version:
