Pure Blue Japan - Official Thread - Page 52

Gentlemen

I tried on some Japan Blue 0202s in a size 30. They fit, but the button couldn't be done up. I would need to wear a size 31 or 32.

Does anyone know the difference between an 0202 and an 0201 found here?:

Wrong brand. You'll get more responses in the Momotaro Thread.

FWIW, the 202 would probably be a dark weft version of the 201.

Hey so I'm trying to decide between PBJ xx-013 and the Strike
Gold SG1109 - I'm having a real hard time of it. Anyone familiar with these and can comment? It looks like both have a slim tapered fit, so now it's more a question of denim quality, fading, construction, etc. The only Japanese denim I have experience with is Momotaro, so looking to try something new. Any ideas, advice, or suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance

aside from both denim being slubby, they have totally different evo route.
'really depends on what you expect [& not expect] on your next denim pair to be.

establish your criteria, 1st. then, search the threads for photos for comparison. ... or vice-versa.
words just wont suffice to describe.

I just picked up my first pair of PBJ - the xx-013 in a size 29 raw. I tried them on today so I could check out the fit before soaking, and the top block and leg opening seem like they will fit great after a soak. The knee, however, is pretty narrow, and I'm worried that if it shrinks much more, I won't be able to get the jeans on over the knee. Should I just do a soak of the top block, (and maybe the leg opening), and leave the knee out of the water? Would that still shrink the inseam?
I'm basically trying to figure out if I can keep these and make them work, or if the cut just isn't for me and I should try something else (xx-005?)
Thanks in advance.

@stukovx - Those look awesome. I have my eyes set for the XXX-007 as my next pair. Could you give us some details into the life of your jeans?

Sorry, don't check up on this forum too often. I wore those for about 4-5 years now. There's actually a blogger who documented my jeans as can be seen here:

Pure Blue Japan XX-007  New vs Old. The new one is for sale/trade. Size 31 raw, never worn/washed. Looking for a size 30 raw or BiG store credit:

Hi all,

New to Styleforum. I'm currently trying to track down a pair of pbj 24-013 or 24-007 in a size 36. I know pbj isn't making this fabric anymore, so I'm just trying to find either pair new or used. If you know where I could get a pair or if someone is willing to sell, PM me. Sorry for posting in this thread, but SF won't let me post in the classifieds for some reason yet.

Thanks,

J

You need to be a member for 10+ days I think before it allows you to post a classified, or you must hit a certain post count, or something.

Yes, I don't think this fabric is available new anymore, but best of luck in your search. Haven't heard of many, if any, on the board who do have it.

Pulled out my xx009s for the first time in months for a very springlike day:

AppleMark

Have always been too long, but keeping them folded up in the closet ruined the semi-stacks I had going for a while. Have worn them the rest of the day with a massive double cuff.

Still love the generous cut. Great changeup.

How many months deep are you in those?  They look a lot lighter than the 702s, love how easy it is to see the slub in them.

Ummmm.... actual weartime on them is probably 11-12 months, with quite a few breaks. I bought them in March '11 I think. Haven't worn them in almost 9 months (working on Japan Blue 400s, and then right into the Momotaros).

I was surprised pulling these out again - the weight is so different in the fabric (it's far more broken in, but still) and despite the measurements in the top block being relatively similar to my 702s, I was just amazed at how differently they fit.
