Spain...on The Road Again

Have you guys been watching this show? I caught one by accident today--the Catalonia episode--and it made me want to hop on the next flight out of La Guardia. Granted, you have to deal with GP and a little too much of Mario, but the food makes up for it all. GP and Mario dined at Inopia (fuck, I hate rich and famous people!) and were given courses after courses of orgasms on a plate. Spain is where it's at, apparently. And you don't even need that sorcery stuff they do at El Bulli.

And the cherry on top: Claudia Bassols. She makes Gwyneth Paltrow look like a farmer's daughter. She alone is enough of a reason to watch the show.

I saw the episode where Gwyneth and Mario drank the '58 rioja at the winery and she was later exclaiming to Bittman she was drunk in the car. Seems pretty fluff so far. Indeed Ms. Bassols is amazing though. Where did she come from and why does Bittman get to chauffeur her around in the SL 500?

Well, she and the jamon.

I only caught the episode on Bilbao. Guggenheim, Gehry, and Etxebarri.

Needless to say I'm quite enamored of Claudia. Bittman got the better deal there.

I saw the inaugural show and have been unable to make the time to see the continuing series. But like you others, I found myself riveted to Claudia and am intrigued enough to want to see more.

I loved the banter in the first episode, the al fresco grilling of baby lamb chops in a vineyard is what friendship, food and travel is all about.

Bourdain is too much of an ass for other people to like him. Fuck, for a guy who doesn't cook a whole lot, he sure has a big mouth.

That's sounds like every veteran chef out there. If it's because of his mouth, why the hell does that obnoxious Alton Brown get on so many shows?

I think the show is great!

lovely to watch and they all seem to have nice humor about them. I think GP has a cute personality!

Being an American guy in Spain is like dying of thirst on the ocean. You're surrounded by water but can't drink any of it.

I can't enjoy Claudia because she brings back too many bad memories from when I lived there. There are girls like her everywhere but they wouldn't talk to you in a million years.

Not true in my experience.

Really? I know a lot of guys who've studied in Spain and I've never met one who even got to first base with a Spanish girl. We learned pretty quickly you were better off going after a German or Swede.
