Never seen it, but it's apparently in the 2004-2005 C&J catalogue. See the last post in this thread.

i LOVE these. this is a good seller, i've bought from her before and it was always good stuff, but i LOVE these. andrew, can you get double monk in 12?

I've seen it yesterday at barney's NY on sale - $399 down from $560 or so. Two left, brown in 8D and black in 10. There used to be another double monk handgrade model with captoe, i think. It seems that the newer style is plain toe single strap.

I saw them in person too, when I popped into C&J on Jermyn Street yesterday.  GBP 310, same price as most of the other models on the 337 last (there's a coupla new hand-stitched models which cost a little more).  Oh, and as jcusey guessed in the linked thread, they had the Cadogan double monkstrap as well, even though it's not in the new catalogue. I actually had a look around John Lobb beforehand (first time I've been in there) and saw the William model - so when I was in C&J looking at the Seymour I was like "Seymour... William... Seymour... William..."

A. Harris, how do you find Crockett & Jones shoes on eBay? It seems impossible for me, I type in "Crockett Shoes" and "Crockett Jones." I've tried numerous ways but I've never come up with any matches. I even typed in verbatim what that item's description was.

I occasionally find a pair by typing in "Crockett" but I found these because she put "Lobb" in the title. Lance, I'll bet you can get a pair from www.plal.com (email them and ask, even if they are not listed.) At current prices they will be about $395 plus shipping. Also, as Lance said, this is a great seller. My only beef with them is that they don't take paypal, which means that I have to pick my lazy tail up off the computer chair and go buy a money order...

i didn't see any in there, but i did see a few i liked. what are these shoes like? compare them to mantellassi or gravati, 2 of my faves

Those guys order direct from C&J so they can get anything for you I think. Run a search on plal - there are a lot of very satisfied plal customers on this board. C&J Handgrade shoes are very nice. Definitely a higher grade of shoe than Gravati IMO. They aren't handmade like the upper tier of Mantellassi but the styling is apples and oranges so you can't really compare the two. When it comes to English shoes, only Edward Green beats C&J handgrade. Highly recommended.

I haven't heard any complaints about communication here. Any plal customers care to comment??
Shyam Doshi, the P. Lal shoe guy, speaks better English than most of the members of our august forum, so communication shouldn't be an issue... Being originally from Kuala Lumpur myself, I've actually been to P. Lal several times and have bought shoes from them, as has my father. They are very much an institution in the city -- they're near the courts in the old centre of town so there are always lawyers popping in during lunch to pick up a pair of black cap-toes. It very much feels like a family business from another era, which it is, defiantly un-corporate, and the service is knowledgeable and personal, bordering on eccentric. I can't comment on their mail-order business because I've had no reason to get anything by mail, but P. Lal is definitely a legit business. [For the record, I am in no way connected to P. Lal nor do I stand to profit from any recommendations.]

I've bought a few pairs now, have got one on order and doubtless more to come. Communication is superb and shoes arrive by courier in perfect shape - takes a few days from Kuala Lumpur. I have yet to be hit by duty charges either which makes for a very pleasant shopping experience...

Great minds must think alike. I also saw them at Barney's on Friday. They're good-looking shoes. The thing that I can't figure out is that it and some other of the Barney's C&J Handgrade models have printed interior markings instead of the usual hand-written ones. I wonder why.
