It looks nice a decent enough place to get a burger and a beer. If I'm ever in the neighborhood, I'll be sure to pay it a visit.

I passed on a meal there years ago. Most of the people I work with have been there though. The impression I get is that it is more of an experience than a meal. Certainly Grant Achatz has spent a bit of time there.

A good friend of mine has gone there and said this as well. Its about food but manipulated in such a way as to shock you.. (try soup in cube form etc.)

I've been to the DC restaurants of one of this guy's protoges. Cafe Atlantico is the one that's the most like a chemistry experiment. I admit, it was fun.

Yes, it's actually Minibar, a smaller restaurant inside the Cafe Atlantico. They only serve something like 16 people a night. It's a difficult reservation to get but not nearly as difficult as El Bulli.

Yeah, the Minibar is a nice experience, but it seems like the molecular techniques are more of the main focus, while the food plays second fiddle. The month prior, I went to WD-50, where I thought it was the opposite -- the food was main focus, while the molecular techniques were only employed to enhance the flavors or preparation. El Bulli is definitely on my list of places to try, but I want to time it with a visit to the Spanish F1 race.

Surprised that most people here (or at least this thread) have no idea what El Bulli is. The book by the way, is insane. It's like 5 inches thick and weighs a ton. I agree with one of the Amazon reviewers, though - many of the pictures that comprise it suck.
