Cool furniture, design objects and desiderata

Those Hugo FranÃ§a's furniture objects are actually good. I've never considered buying those kind before but this thread made me changed my mind.

Yeah, they're not the kind of thing I usually go for either ...but they are very well done -- often that kind of furniture looks a bit kitsch and contrived. I think this kind of "Eco design" object is going to be a big trend.

I can imagine something like that day bed used in a minimal interior -- maybe like a bathroom with a Claudio Silvestrin bath.

...Modern furniture are meant to look as light as possible and I think those stools manages to play and fool around with that idea quit well. I also like how they make you wanna kick them high up in the air..

"The Plopp stool is composed of two ultra thin steel plates cut into the desired shape and welded around the edges. Finally air under high pressure is shot into the unit causing an expansion into the desired shape. The idea is to make a light construction which is easily mass produced but with a unique result where every single piece of furniture is a one of a kind sculpture. Using this technology a new piece of steel furniture is created which in its form refers to plastic furniture but with the solidity and wearing qualities of steel. In an era of increasing global warming it makes sense to create products that do not break the day after the expiration of the guarantee certificate".

^Those stools are very interesting ....I am quite seriously liking them actually.

This is a nice old chair design.

The "Hidden Wealth" tableware by Khashayar Naimanan has the fine hand decoration on the bottom of the plates.

I hope that Koons gets part of the profits on these stools because they're clearly heavily "inspired" by his work...

Koons owes much more to Warhol and Oldenburg.

Hmm, I think although there are aesthetic similarities with some of Koons' work (namely his stainless steel castings of balloon animals), the production method of those stools is very different; they are literally inflated.

They are quite cool though.

That is a really good idea. It would save a lot of space if you dont have a cabinet for your china.

I like this, but it's something I'd be worried that I'd look at ten years later and wonder wtf was I thinking in buying this.
