He also sometimes get up walk over to the tv, turns on teletext and starts checking last minutes flights and telling everyone how cheap they are.

Poor sod, the preview at Rago annex was more worthwhile than the main gallery, for me.

Thanks for the advice. I got busy running errands this weekend and I'm not sure if I can make it today. When I called the Rago last week it sounded like they were open on Sunday too.

They had some Nakashima grass seated chairs and a set of the 'New' chairs that were in good shape. I find both of those fairly comfortable. A set of Finn Juhl dining chairs (109 chair IIRC).

My wife and I are looking for a sofa, but didn't really find anything that caught my attention. I've been dying to build a daybed for the room in question, but she's not keen on the idea, so we're on the hunt.

What did you think of the Nakashima daybeds? There were 2 for auction.

A friend of mine likes the Nakashima for Widdicomb sofa but I think it costs $30k new. eek.gif

They were in fine shape, but I'd probably replace the cushions. I was surprised they were pretty comfortable for having such an upright back, I expected it to be laid back at a slight angle.

The pricing sounds about right.

Some of there stuff is really not bad (new) on pricing and some of it is definitely competing with the absolute top of the range.

Wow. I'm surprised they are comfortable.

I want to see the look on the owner's face when their wife's gestulating friend spills a glass of Pinot all over their $30k sofa.

That's why it pays to know a good upholsterer.

Greatly increases the risk of flying bronzes or other heavy objects.

We had a good friend who would get absolutely mangled and threaten the furniture with red wine. So, when you say gesticulating, It brings up such fond memories.

WRT the Nakashima Daybed.

The daybed was proportioned well also. All things considered there are a few others I'd pick first, but it's pretty nice.

The owner of a $30k sofa probably has one on staff.

This one from 1958 sold for $31250 + 25% buyers premium.

$30k new is a bargain.
