But I do quite like the elegant trailing electrical cord. You can see that the designer has really pushed the possibilities to the limit.

I think it will go perfectly with my new loungers, don't you?

Beginning to remember why I don't spend more time in this thread.

Ah, there it is.

Turns out that the shorter IC lamp works quite well for our purposes. Though, having it in person now, it is clear why the taller one is generally the right choice. This one is only 4.5 feet tall. Really only works if paired with low seating.

It's funny how critical you can be of piobs dorky chair and then seem bothered when people suggest that your miniature kitchen cabinet with a light bulb in it might be an odd choice for a lamp.

Foo is very clearly a smart, articulate, and wealthy person who definitely takes shit on here, but if you dish it out, you sort of need to take it. I'm assuming this has been hashed out elsewhere, but he's much more fun and interesting poster to engage with than someone anonymous and insignificant like Medwed McChiponshoulder.

Knowing nothing about design, I'm assuming the lamp in question is very expensive and does very little actual lighting.

Not bothered by people not liking the lamp. Annoyed that people who spend time in a design thread so rarely have anything thoughtful to say about design, good or bad.

Why assume that?

Foo, come on. That could have come from an IKEA catalog. The designer has put no effort into the actual lamp part of it. It's clumsy and poorly thought-out.

Or perhaps it was very well thought-out and the designer did that for the same reason IKEA does: It's incredibly cheap to produce. But neither one of these possibilities is much of a recommendation.

If that lamp was scaled up, it would make an interesting chair.

Both by Flos.

Both of these are cool. I wonder if the Sarfatti lamp puts off a blue or orange glow?

It's white on the inside, like PH lamps etc. wink.gif

My lounger is not dorky! Fugly maybe but not dorky!

See, Finn's lamps all look sweet.

Foo's lamp isn't even as bad from a conceptual standpoint, I'll disagree with Bounder on that. But as an actual lamp to use somewhere that you need light? No thanks.

But who knows about what I think....I own this lamp:
