Good question.

The lamp will go in the far corner of a large room. That room is well-lit except for the far end.

I figure it can be either general or directional lighting, as there is a lounge chair there for which the lamp could theoretically function as a reading lamp. Only care that there is some light back there in some form.

Open to suggestions.

Want something tall, to fit scale of the room. Minimalist aesthetic or something complementing a minimalist aesthetic are the goals. Do not want anything ironic or sculptural.

Another idea. Could be awesome or awful.

Someone will probably recommend the Jasper Morrison Glo-Ball. A reasonable suggestion given what we're looking for, but not a fan.

Eh. It's perfectly fine, but don't love it.

Also, if possible, would like a less well recognized design. Can be from a smaller maker.

I like the one you got better, anyway. The hunting scene is very iconic for those carpets but still somewhat uncommon. Please give more details. Has it been repaired?

I don't see any repairs just a shadow of a furniture that was kept on it (square outline). One side of the rug is heavily sun-bleached (which I like). Considering that this carpet has been used in Swedish home it must have been at least 70+ years to get that damage by the pale nordic sun.

Speaking of losing at auction, I put in a low-ball bid on a pair of Finn Juhl 133 chairs today.  For years I've been looking for a match for the one I've already got, but I haven't been able to find anything decent at non-1st Dibs prices.  I figured maybe I'd get lucky and no one would be paying attention to this auction, giving me a match and letting me unload the other.  Unfortunately I was nowhere near the hammer price (not including the 25% buyer's premium) of $2600.  If the chairs were sold to a dealer it puts the 1st Dibs prices in perspective; but at the same time there had been one on eBay recently at $1500 with a major repair, so maybe I'm just too cheap.

It is a nice chair , but 3000 ...? I don't see it. Is it that rare, is it that unique? I thought most of them have been mass produced. I have to say that once I saw all these Scandi mid-century designs I curated them in my head to a few designers that stand out like Saarinen or Cherner whose items are striking and aching to art. The rest are just another Scandinavian furniture for middle classes.
