10 feet isn't inflexible, but I want it to be a large table.

Styleforum group buy table?

The 8 foot saarinen works really well. Where it shines is that, while it can handle a reasonably large crowd, the pointed corners also makes it comfortable for two or three. Last week we had thirteen to dinner and needed to add a small card table, We could handle a dozen, though it is tight, without needing an add-on.

Is it still ongoing? Link?

Thanks. I already have a Saarinen as a coffee table so the dining as well might be a little too much. The El Dom table from Cassina looks nice:

Krefeld coffee table is better, IMO, if you are after a Parson's style.

10' dining table is about 10ppl....Dopey's advice is excellent, and another alternative to consider if you can afford the space is the PK54 table (Poul Kjearholm) in granite with the expansion rings. That way you do not need to deal with a giant table most of the time, and have the space for 10ppl when you need it.

Unless you have an absolutely GIANT place or constantly have 10ppl over for dinner I would plan around having something that isnt awkward with a small crowd.

The table was nothing special. What sold me was the SF gun check upholstery on the chairs.

Thanks all. I'm partial to rectangular; the circular tables aren't doing it for me. I have another dining table that seats six ina separate room, so this is all about getting something massive to fill an otherwise empty space. I think the Cassina table is likely the right way to go, but now I have to figure out how to get it in the apartment, which is not so easy.

Thos. Moser does a ten-foot version of their trestle table. Their Readers Table (like an old-fashioned library table) is even larger. I didn't check but some of their other designs might be in that size range, too. In any event, I am sure they will make their other designs in the size you want or modify a design to your specs. I found them very easy to work with.

All set, thankfully delivery to my parents house was uneventful.

Finished it in varnish, my mom is thrilled with the cabinet.
