8k is ridiculous for a basic desk!! I don't see how these places persist with their asking price.

yea...it isn't like vintage metal industrial furniture is hard to come by. Roll-top versions are less plentiful, but 8 grand?

I don't think arbitrary, outrageous retail prices on such things is because they actually expect somebody to pay it, but rather to cultivate a perception of higher value for such items in general. The whole "junk/industrial chic" look relies on the right environment to work....and this place looks the part.

Not knocking it, as the the "right" industrial piece can look quite nice.

Agreed; I love the piece, but it's about 6K more than I would consider paying. The search continues.

well it is expensive ....but price is relative.

I posted this coffee table (below) a few months ago ...there is a desk version in production also -- it costs $18,000. I love it but I do think it is a bit over-priced.

And I'm afraid to ask how much this costs.

Ha ha ...yeah ... I'm guessing somewhere around 300K EDIT: I found the price, it is $121,700 -- much more reasonable than I thought -- I'll take two!

I used to breed tropical fish and have a soft spot for a beautiful aquarium.

I wonder how often such thing would need cleaned?..
There doesn't seem to be a filter installed, seems like it would quickly be a PITA to maintain. That said, the design is simplistic and nice to look at. I do appreciate well setup aquariums, just have yet to make the jump.

It's hard to say. The rear is blown out but there could be a spillover in the back that is pulling water into a filter below or they just could have removed everything for the shot. That is more or less a bare tank and would be easy to maintain. Those planted tanks are another matter.

The large fish are Pterophyllum altum which I always felt were the most beautiful of the angelfish. Plus some kind of tetra mid tank and corydoras on the substrate. I like the sparseness but think it lacks a central focus.

Check out http://www.aquariumdesigngroup.com/. They have some spectacular displays.

There used to be a place in Soho that had 20 or so Victorian aquariums made of bronze. They were stunning.
