It seems to me couples rarely share exactly the same tastes and have the same view on clutter. Clutter and hoarding can easily be a major stressor in a marriage as it's something that is with you 24/7. I'm rather jealous of couples that share the same aesthetic and general views on clutter.

I always figured as much as pics of your place look very uniform in purpose/taste. When we purchase something it's always a negotiation in compromise, and IMO, rarely end up with something either of us is happy with and end up buying mid-market stuff as we realize we'll get tired of it in a few years as neither of us are happy with it.

I will not get into the clutter discussion.

I'd like to point out that you, an adult man, just asked another man to behold your built-in dish rack. Both of us should have better things to do on a Sunday.

While that does solve the eyesore of dishes drying on the counter that seems a waste of decent cupboard space. What do they drain on?

To me, there's something vaguely psychopathic about keeping all of one's kitchen-surfaces bare. What are you compensating for that you need your kitchen to be in such perfect ******* order?

For me it's military conditioning. I have a constant fear that my bedroom/kitchen/whatever will be tossed if things aren't reset.

I have a galley kitchen, so it can be cluttered quickly if I start putting bowls and things everywhere.

I have two counters and a bar (glorified pony wall). One counter has an espresso machine and with a few cups and a silver coffee set and the other is mostly clear but has a knife block.

Everything else I feel is better off put away so I can cook without having to negotiate for space with a bunch of things.

The ***** about drying racks is that they rarely get put away.

Lay a cloth down and dry on that. Toss cloth in washer when done. Keep counter clean of clutter.

I have this, collapses down and fits undersink when not in use. not sexy, but functional

I'm sure Greg is palming his face right now with the direction this thread has gone.

Any thoughts on this coconut sculpture?

Get a dishtowel and dry your dishes and pans, instead of having them sit on the counter, lazy bastards.

• Cupboard space is of concern only to us city-dwelling folk
• From the looks of it, they drain onto your forearms when you next use the sink

Has BH achieved city status? Mazel tov!

A rain shower kitchen sink feature would be pretty cool.

In my defense , I have been to National Museum today , did some food shopping and read a few chapters of memoirs that I am trying to finish. It is 10:30 pm here, fyi.

It drains on the removable metal tray or if desired straight into the sink.

If you know you want it before you fit tiles and drywall, you can have a drain build up inside the wall, so it drains that way and not on to your face.
