Cool furniture, design objects and desiderata - Page 109

Check out Rodolfo Dordoni's bed's. I like the bed that Matt suggested as well that is certainly in the realm of what I like for upholstered beds without becoming a b&b look-a-like.

We stayed at the Kimber Modern hotel in Austin for a few days and I loved everything about the bedrooms that they put together, it is certainly worth a google search.

Do you find yourself banging your shins on that frame? That's always my worry with platform beds that aren't cushioned.

In answer to the bed question, have you considered Vioski?

My wife and I are building a house and I think we will be going with one of these.

Thanks. The Zurich is nice and hits my mark of "substantial".

That's a great looking bed. Price?

I agree. The Zurich is substantial. We are leaning towards that as well. I will think of you whenever I get in bed.

A little research shows the base price to be about 6100 dollars. Other materials and colors are available.

You won't be the first on this forum. Or the last.

I'm a fan of the George Nelson Case Study Bed, but the Traci here looks really nice and you can't go wrong with a soft headboard like that.

I don't think I am anal enough about my bed-making for one of these beds.

The case study bed is one of my favorites when the comforter is all neatly tucked in on all sides and sharply folded on the corners, but I imagine it looks like shite when the bed is just made normally and everything is just hanging over the side (which seems more comfortable and crawl-into-bed-friendly)

The Traci is nice. I think Gilt offered it for a whopping $50 off retail.

laugh.gif Solid point. I'm in the same boat you are and would probably not take the time to neatly tuck in my linens every morning and would end up killing the look of the bed.

Gilt's pricing these days is all over the place, but mostly unimpressive.

Had it for a year and haven't yet.

If you use a blanket instead of a comforter it will look neater.

Those Vioski beds each seem to have a problem with proportion. I wish I had better words, but they are all off a bit.

Maybe. Have to see them in person.
