New machine for sitting...outside! waited 16 weeks, and it arrived in time to spend 16 more weeks in the basement.

 

Looks damn good for a replica.

 

How much?

It's the real deal (Cassina) they started making the outdoor ones about a year ago. $2350. Stainless frame, sunbrella fabric. I bought it for some solitary cigar smoking outside, my navy chairs are proving to be uncomfortable for a long sit.

Nice. The Perriand outdoor lounge is incredibly bitchin'.

I have thought about it too, but it seems silly to have an outdoor chaise in a city where it rarely gets above hard nipple temperatures. I like that Cassina is releasing this stuff. It's fun.

Yet another chair Corbusier ripped off. Considering Marcel Breuer made his Wassily Chair in 1926 and Corbusier came up with this in 1928 I often wonder if he had Chinese blood somewhere.
Both I find slightly uncomfortable to be honest for longer periods.There are aesthetically pleasing though. When you consider the revenues brought in by such pieces today the management of Peugeot must be kicking themselves!

And mies designed the MR lounge in 1927 with an influence from Breuer. All similar but all different.

Do you not find that the bar across the top of the back of the chair is inclined to stick into your back?

The leftette is on a tear to replace much of our furniture in the mastercraft style. Near as I can tell that means '70s glam. I think she's trying to turn us into a single gay guy.

 

Anyone know what to look for? Avoid?

More 80´s but have a look at some of Ettore Sottsass´s item´s form the memphis design school. Have a look at the "UP" Series from B&B Italia. Classic 70´s design with a twist(The series was devepoped in 1969)

So was mastercraft a style or a designer/manufacturer? Much of the 1stdibs stuff is "by Mastercraft".

Fuck me, that stuff is hideous. It's like Deco for the designer drug era.

I like these mid-century chairs, but because of the slight lounge position of the backs, they don't look like they would be suitable for eating.
