Cool furniture, design objects and desiderata - Page 106

I like the idea of it, but it's a bit over the top, a nice classic leather sofa would be better.

The sofa is the least of the problems. The ugly green bookcase; the ridiculous dining lights; the silly table and chairs in the corner; the floor; the scale of the furniture overall. My guess is that this is a pic from the mid '90s.

The most offensive part, for me, is the Buddha head on the floor. Wtf?

^ Really? It seems so dated. All that low furniture drawing your eye down. I does smack of a home stylist prepping for a real estate shoot.

That buddha is killing me too.

I've been trying to find a stainless steel cabinet like this, but haven't found much luck. I'd love to own one.

Love that sofa!

The colours, the texture, that thing is sweet.

goomba, is that a maloof?
Yup, I was watching an interview with him taken a few years prior to his death. Interesting person, he was offered something in the way of $22M for his design and turned it down because he did not want it to be mass produced.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't really want to be one of a thousand wood workers working in the style of guys like Nakashima, Maloof or Krenov.

I'm not quite sure how Maloof originally carved those seats, but I imagine it involved a series of spokeshaves and rasps and very few angle grinders.

The Industrialists in San Francisco frequently have these. No idea if they'll ship out of state though.
