I just read that they have just started airing a US version of Kath and Kim.

How bad was it?

Horrible. I tried watching the first episode on Hulu because I was bored. Didn't make it 10 minutes before I had to turn it off. Incredibly un-funny.

were you familiar with the Australian version? If so, did you like it?

I saw about ten minutes of the first episode.

I didn't think it was any worse than the Aus version - but I think the original consists of one joke that they've recycled endlessly for years, so maybe I'm biased.

There's no regular Magda Szubanski character either, as far as I could tell.

I haven't watched the Australian version for probably 7 years, so when I saw it, the 'one joke' (presumably 'mooine', 'nooice' and everything else they can do to western-suburbs the letter I) was still reasonably fresh. And the whole statue of baby cheeses thing was pretty funny

i didn't think it was that bad. has it moments. selma blair is cute, in an odd way, for her character.

I thought the first episode was atrocious. As far as I remember, in the second, they dropped the voice-over, leaving it merely very bad.

I didn't realize this had already started. A lot of ads during the Olympics but an astonishingly small amount of buzz now. Generally a bad sign.
