Not for fall. But once spring rolls around.

Seems like perfect yacht attire if I had one

When I was in Boston, this look was huge. I was extremely surprised to see it. This and tieing your sweater around your waist. I think it's a big east coast thing. Here in Chicago, you'd have to have confidence to wear it. I passed a gentleman on the street with the over-the-shoulders-sweater with shirt and tie and thought he looked great. I've seen it here maybe once in 5+ years but he rocked it.

I was looking for responses geared towards the colors and the matching.

I think the trousers are too dark, the rest I like.

They're the wrong trousers for that look. Should be pleats: no, cuffs: yes. And they could be a bit lighter, I'd agree.

The colors appeal to me, but I'd wear a gray or tan trouser.

I thought the same: trouser too dark.

Mid to dark grey.

Or a tan/camel.

+ 1.
I would particularly favour tan or camel trousers.

One of my history professors at uni (who was from the US) wore this sort of outfit almost every day. I must say that it really suited him, and he wore it well.

PS I think that it would look better without the "white collar" shirt, as that contrasts uncomfortably with the more casual nature of the rest of the outfit.
