The most pretentious band/singer ever

I was washing the dishes when, for some reason, the topic of pretentious bands popped into my head. Yeah, I'm single and live alone.

Anyway, my vote goes to Midnight Oil, a band that I don't believe ever once sang a song about banging chicks or drinking beer. They managed to take the art of music and turn it into a Bataan death march of Seriousness.

Second prize goes to Bono. Shut up and sing.

Easy: Coldplay.

"Chris Martin told the Daily Star: "You want to be able to hold your head up high in a room with Paul McCartney and Bono."

"We're trying to get to the very highest level. We want to be better than Mozart"

i heard Oasis was pretty prententious. and that one girl, Jewel. she takes herself too seriously, i remember the media caught a mistake in grammar she made or something and she kept justifying why she did that or something or other.

The mere fact that it alludes to something most people are not familiar with these days makes it slightly pretentious.

I was supposed to see them a few years ago at this really tiny venue in orlando but they cancelled the day of. I heard because ricky or frankie was having drug problems or something. Sucked

Conne and the Connettes. Though I must say, their Sings the Stephen Sondheim Songbook album was great.

How in the hell does Rush not get mentioned in every single post? I like them quite a lot, but at times they set a new bar for pretentious.

Then, there's Emerson, Lake & Palmer
