Starbucks Urgent - Page 3

Starbucks' robot-machines make for shit espresso. The only reason I would go there is if I needed a serious sugar fix and got one of those frou-frou steamed milk concoctions with half a shot of espresso added. More than enough other places for me to go for my espresso, espresso macchiato and Sunday capp needs. Plus, everyone is all tapping away at their laptops, and that disturbs the European in me. Since when was a cafe somewhere you conspicuously show others how hard you work/how much you procrastinate? I'd rather have some conversation, thanks.

Sometimes if it's on the way, i'll get a cup of iced coffee with a shot of espresso from starbucks. Put a little bit of milk or half a thing of splenda in it. I dunno. Keeps me awake. I'd like to try really nice coffee/espresso some day though.

Chrono: if you do that, it's really best to have one of those snobby connoisseurs around. I have way too many friends like that, and there's no need to believe every word they say. But it's really nice to have someone point out what you should be looking for (hazelnut note, not too sour but a little, blah blah). I really don't have a problem with Starbucks in general. Oh, terrible, they keep spreading. there are so many... meeting public demand... as they ask... wait. Yeah they have shitty business practices opening right next to existing indie stores but I guess that doesn't bother me since the last town I lived in had three high quality coffee places in a three block radius. I certainly don't have a really refined enough palette for it to matter. However if you drink enough crappy coffee then have a really good one it's noticable. Happened to me last night, in fact.

If you need a caffeine boost, drink Starbucks drip coffee. More than 2x the caffeine of a similar sized Starbucks cappuccino. http://www.energyfiend.com/the-caffeine-database

I hope you sip it slowly. That should be somewhere around 700-800 mg or so?

I once got a ridiculous drink to stay up all night. Drank it in a half hour. Couldn't study because I became hyper-aware of how your eyes don't roll slowly across words, it actually jumps to each word. So I saw EVERY-DAMN-JUMP-BETWEEN-WORDS.

You do realize that coffee doesn't make you die that quickly, right? Especially since Starbucks puts loads of sugar and cream and stuff in their coffee, so it's not undiluted coffee anymore. Go ahead and have that extra espresso I would say. By the way - oh you posted this earlier. So how did your math midterm go? I used to love math when I was in high school... hope all went well.

I know this has been asked in this thread before, but WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT? Starbucks doesn't put anything extra in their espresso. If you order an espresso, you get an espresso. There isn't any added sugar or cream in it. It wouldn't be an espresso at that point. Now, if you go in and order some mixed coffee drink abomination, then yes, there may very well be creamer, flavoring, or sweetener in your drink... BUT YOU ORDERED IT THAT WAY. I hate Starbucks... But you gotta get your argument straight.

When I ordered an espresso they did not even know what that is! Then I found out they don't call it espresso they call it a coffee shot - but that is not an ESPRESSO!
Where did you get a real espresso when you ordered one ... it tasts like a small watered brew!
