here's the deal. i'm at starbucks and i just downed a venti cappuccino but i have to study for a math midterm for like 10 hours. will i die if i drink more coffee? namely, an expresso.

nope. I used to work at starbucks. I forget the total ammount of shots in a venti, but it can't be more than 3 or 4. A shot or two more of espresso wouldn't hurt you, but you might get a bit of headache/nausea similar to smoking more cigarrettes than you're used to. That's assuming if you've smoked. Regardless... go for it.

You called espresso eXpresso.

You'll be fine. Probably. But too much caffeine can, in my experience, cloud your thought...

you'll be fine. but you will be very wired.
if you do too much of it too often you may develop heart problems.

Caffeine is great because it's a self-regulating drug. You will get wired and jittery and nauseaus long before you consume dangerous quantities.

OF COURSE it's called espresso in italian but i'm not of the communistic persuasion so i translated it the /s/ phoneme in italian (fricative alveolar-dental) is often translated to /ɛks/. example- sesso= sex QED btw, the extra coffee was awesome, but a gay barista tried to hit on me

Are you saying that all through my years of juvenile corrections ("it's ESS-presso, not EX-presso, IDIOT!") I have been the dumb one? How embarrassing.

the truth hurts. i need to start studying. fuck.

If you start studying, I'll start apologizing.

After I print out research on translated Italian pronunciation.

Caffeine doesn't really seem to phase me. I had a super long/busy day last month and had 6 shots within 6 hours or so. Didn't help at all. Was working on like 3 hours of sleep and fell asleep shortly after my 6th shot. Also expresso is a mispronunciation. Your example makes no sense... sesso= sex so the "ss" turns to an eks sound. But its espresso not esspresso. So...?

Damn! So is it "esprexo"? Definitely NOT apologizing.

Fuck I have no idea. All I know is that as a barista all of the italians/greeks/french/british people say espresso. Most american people say espresso, only people that say expresso are basically first time customers or people who usually get coffee... Also wiki says that expresso is a mispronunciation!
