I don't disagree with your observation. My excuse is that there are other things I'd rather spend my money on and I don't particularly enjoy fragrance shopping. Add those two things together and you're left with one cologne that your sister bought you for Christmas last year.

Yes, fragrance shopping is rather daunting... that's why I don't like doing it except through samples or decants swapped/ordered through friends or online that then might turn into a full-bottle purchase. And, typical fragrance sales associates don't know anything except what their sales cards tell them; they want you to buy the fragrance that will make the most $$$ for them... not the one that "fits" with you best. These threads here are good places to get started, as we can help you find a few in the different "categories" to help you zero-in on what you might like. And, finally, never trust a woman's nose. (haha)
