How do you know when you're too sick to train?

I felt a bit hot during my last hour of sleep this morning, but I went to work anyways. One of my nostrils was stuffy, and my throat feels itchy. I didn't bother to do my morning sprints. I have a meet up session with the Marines on Saturday to go do some running, and I don't want to kill my first to finish running status. I feel guilty whenever I take days off. Should I stay home or go to my boxing gym tomorrow? Will things get worse for me if I keep it up in this condition?

the general rule is that if symptoms are limited to your head, it's ok. if your whole body is under the weather, refrain from exercise.

I've always considered the rule to be anything in the throat or below and you should stay home.

Yeah it's just a head cold, you can do some training. If you have swollen lymph nodes, a fever, or any aches, then sleep.

I always train when I feel sick. You would feel better during the session.
If not, then you are too sick.
Anyway my yardstick, if you feel aches all over your body, then its a no go.
If you have stuffy nose and dry throat, its probably a cold and you can go to the gym.

Whatever you do make sure to double-up on fluids.

finally getting over my cold, it's all moved into my head so I worked out for the first time in 3 weeks. Wore a zip-up jersey jacket, sweat all the way through it. Felt fucking great.

Enjoy it while you can. In a few weeks you will be training even if you are bleeding from your anus or have lost an eye.

TYCOON DON'T ROLL LIKE DAT!

You guys were right. My running in the morning was half-assed, but I went to the boxing gym in the afternoon. Trained longer than I usually do with less intensity.

My right nostril is starting to get stuffy again, and my throat is scratchy. I have a meet up session with the Marines tomorrow to do some running. I'll be the first to finish just like last time.
