Understandable. 8 1/2s are out.
But may I just express my heartbreak at this transaction? I was so desperately wanting the monk chukkas. This just sucks. Any suggestions, or should I just throw in the towel?
Ron Rider, Martegani's N. American representative, provided the opportunity this summer to order MTO shell cordovan shoes. I didn't think of a monk chukka at the time or I would have ordered one, but someone on the forum ordered a pair, perhaps Tom W. Ron was very accommodating, told me I could order basically anything in the Martegani archive in shell cordovan, and worked with me to design a replica of the whiskey/mahogany Alden Fan shoe posted above (I thought A of C had discontinued it and/or there was a prohibitively long wait for whisky shell). He also sent 2 different sizes of try-on shoes on 2 different lasts (4 pairs, total) at no cost. I believe Ron may make a similar offer again sometime this Fall, depending on the availability of shell.
