I don't really want to get into an argument where I am the Vanilla Ice defender (!) but I remember reading a while back that Ice Ice Baby was a b-side from a single on an underground LP from a couple of years before it blew up. I believe that LP is now considered collectable. The album he put out in ~91 or so was a reprint of the underground album. I would suspect (and without evidence) that when someone called a record label and said 'Shaq wants to make music', they had dollar signs in the eyes long before the FuSchnickens were booked to scream 'can we rock' in the background.
