What else is there to say, Fischer-Dieskau, the Pavarotti of the Lied genre.
His Schubert intepretations are the reference IMHO.

My absolute favourite, the Ständchen (Serenade) from Franz Schubert's Schwanengesang


Probably one of his most popular interpetations, Schubert's "Der Erlkönig" after the poem by Goethe.
