Bourbon is fine, but a good gin is amazing. I would have to agree that, overall, I prefer brown liquors to clear ones.

I am biassed, though. I have been a gin drinker for much longer than I have been drinking brown liquors.

I definately prefer bourbon. I think gin tastes like pine sol

it's seasonal. Nothing better than a good G&T in the summertime.
In winter - bourbon goes damn well with eggnog, if you're forced to drink such gelatinous crap. Better if you hold the eggnog IMHO.

I agree with Thomas, Gin in the summer. Whiskeys and Cognacs in the Winter.

I like drinking Bourbon at home, but I like getting G&Ts at the bar. Kinda weird, but that's how it works. Maybe it's b/c I like cheap bourbon so I can afford to drink it on a daily basis, but I only like more expensive Gin, so instead of buying bottles myself, I just treat it myself on the once a month or however often I go to a bar.

You are correct, sir.
(Though I'm partial to a true gin and tonic when in the tropics.)

I would agree. I have never really liked gin, or most scotches for that matter. I prefer bourbon, then vodka, then rum, then tequila,

Oddly enough, Bourbon is a whisky, er, whiskey I guess in this case, that I have not been able to develop a taste for.

I think its strange how much I prefer rye to bourbon. Theres just something about the roughness of a rye that adds a new dimension. Bourbon is smooth though...

In my book: scotch > bourbon > rum > gin > tequila > vodka. I hardly ever drink tequila or vodka (except in an occasional cocktail). And I've never really found a taste for cognac. But yeah, bourbon > gin. Maybe I haven't had much good gin, but IMO bourbon is much more capable of developing great flavor profiles.
