+1. Doesn't matter if it's RTW or MTM, I get mine in the 202 or 606 only. I want "sleek", I'll get a sports car...

Thanks!

Tony Gaziano, who was the lastmaker at Edward Green for several years, told me that the two are not the same fit unlike his more modern EG lasts. Like Manton however I have not noticed a difference.

My experience with the EG 202 and 606 is that the fit is identical. As for sleekness, these lasts are sleek enough, keeping in mind that I wear an 11.5/12. If you think they are blobby, just compare them with Alden. Alden's are truly blobby and clunky to me and I will not wear them. The EG 202 and 606 provide an amazing and stylish middle ground and don't elongate my rather large foot like G&G and many of the C&J lasts. The C&J 337 last in particular looks like skis in my size. Bought a pair once and sold them on the Bay after a couple of wearings.

888 82 202 So far I wear the same size in all EG lasts I've tried except the 888 which can be tricky. The black pair were too big. The burgundy too tight, until I broke them in, same size. YMMV next pair will be on the 606 and I'll update then.

All of my EGs on the 202 have an E width. I've been meaning to try a pair in D to see if that would cut down on the extra roominess in the toe box just a bit. I like the 202, 82, 89, 888 in that order.

I think I have peculiar shaped feet...

I'm an 11 in most UK shoes, but need to size up to an 11.5 in EG 202 in calf (I can just get away with an 11 in Suede) and go up to an F.

I've got the Chelsea in calf on leather soles and the Cardiff in calf on Dainite soles - both 202 last, both an F width. The Chelsea is near perfect, yet the Cardiff is slightly snug in width across the forefoot yet has excess volume in the same area - whether this is due to the different soles I'm not sure...

1. Fit

The differences in fit between EG lasts are not much greater than the variations in manufacturing tolerances between individual RTW shoes, combined with the differing fit characteristics of diiffering shoe styles. Arguably less.

So my 202 oxfords are roomier than I like in the heel (though not terribly so), whereas my 202 derbies are better, because of the higher and more flexible lacing. My 88 E-width chukkas (I usually take a C or D) likewise are a tad large on the heel until they are laced - at which point the high level of ankle support compensates for theoretical heel slippage. Conversely, my B-width 82 derbies are wearable precisely because I can leave a little more space between the lace-holes than on an oxford without it looking odd.

2. Blobby vs Sleek

This is as much a function of style and colour as last. Dark colours look heavier than light. Brogueing adds an extra layer of leather, and any decoration adds "visual weight".

So of my otherwise identical (last and size) brown and black Malvern full brogues, the black ones look less sleek than the brown - indeed my black Chelsea balmorals look fractionally less sleek than my mid-brown Malverns. Of my identical quarter-brogues on the 202, the mid-brown suede look sleeker than the brown calf. My Farringdon's on an 82 look almost Italian-sleek. Whereas my black half brogues on a 202 are blobby-looking enough to be mistaken for Church's. And so on.

3. General

A. Your feet are possibly the most complicated and most individual part of your body (no sniggering at the back please). The answer to all these "last X fits me, will last Y" or "I take a 12.5G in Berlutis, what will fit me in Allen--Edmonds seconds" posts is no-one really knows, except you when you try a specific pair on.

B. Photos on the interwebz are a rubbish guide to the detail how a particular pair of shoes in your size will actually look on your feet. First time I saw a pic of the 888 last I was in love - what a cracking last. Then I saw them and tried them on and thought, yeah, they are actually just a little bit too square for my liking, I'll stick with the good old Fosters 88.

I saw a size 10.5 pair on the 202 last measure 33 cm in length.
This is the same as the C&J 337, are you wearing the same size in 337 and 202?
How do you find the heel width of 202 vs 337?

I took a US 13D on the 337 which fit perfectly. I take a US 13D on the 888 and a UK 12.5E on the 202.

Measurements across brands won't help much because EG cuts their shoes considerably close to the sole edge, whereas with C&J you may get a similar measurement on a smaller shoe. If you note the top-down pics I posted upthread you'll see that you can hardly see the sole edge on the EGs but if you look at the shoes on the C&J site you'll see the sole edge significantly more.
