Thanks dawg. We were eating like bigtimers tonight. We went in to get the 5 course menu. Ordered, and lo and behold, Chef starts to hook us up immediately. We got these things on the house:
Steamed bok choy, honshimeji, watermelon radish, matsutake broth
Black truffle shaved over her black truffle pot pie AND my red wine risotto
Wagyu Strip Loin w/ Leeks, Japanese Squash, and oxtail-umeshu consomme
Lamb roulade with cannelloni and parsnip puree
Meyer Lemon bar and "Cappuccino"
Apple Crisp, mulled cider, and creme fraiche gelato.

And we got free wine pairings (look for update in wine threak). It was fucking INSANE. Delicious meal. And Lish's first ever Michelin meal. She's always understood and supported my being out here, but I think now that she's eaten here she really "gets" why I've chosen to do this and why I love it so much.

The problem with this kind of eating/drinking is, as the food coma sets in, the chances of you getting some is very small afterward. However, morning sects should be even better than usual.

Yes, definitely. However, the buzz from the wine pairings still makes you wanna get down and dirty. You just have to keep feeding the buzz until the food coma wears off.

First, I forgot to say that TS, that was a damn fine looking piece of meat there! (no homo).

Kyle, NOICE!! Glad they hooked you up like that. That black truffle pot pie is indeed the shizznit and it's a meal unto itself. Ahh, 12/27/09...a very fond night in my mind. Was great food and great company at a fantastic place to eat.

I had a great shawarma chicken platter for dinner last night, complete with hummus, rice, potatos, salad and all of those good things.

Lunch today was a tad more exciting:
- Niçoise salad: lettuce, tomatoes, seared tuna, anchovies, confit tomatoes
- Crisped duck leg, charred scallion, Yukon-applewood smoked cheddar pavé

kyle, how far are you out of SF? I am bringing the wife out for a short vacation in a few months, maybe April, and maybe we will drive out for a meal.

GT, took me about an hour or so and I came up via I5 and drove through Oak/Berk. Well worth the meal, and stay overnight at the Hotel Healdsburg, which is a three minute walk from Cyrus.

thanks, we might do that. its hard to decide, cause my wife has never been to SF, and we will only have 2 nights, so we have to decide how to spend the time. but it is atractive.

actually, just looked at the menu - I think that we will go if I can get reservations for when I am traveling. I thought it would be a little bit more expensive, and it does look good. I love truffles. we'll see.

Yeah, it's tough when you don't have a lot of time. We had only four nights so spent the entire time in Healdsburg exploring it and Sonoma. Still need another week there, then a few in Napa...Santa Barbara county...
