Made Ottolenghi's cauliflower cake today. So good.

Apologies for a likely unnecessary question (since you probably meant exactly what you said), but you'll be in San Francisco proper, or are you interested in East Bay recommendations as well?

Mostly proper, but I might be in the East bay Monday night (dropping my gf off at the Oakland airport in the afternoon and my flight out of SFO is at midnight. Having lunch at bouchon earlier that day.

Had a very good meal with friends at Haven in Oakland a while back. If you get over the Berkeley Chez Panisse really is worth the visit if you've never been, as is the Cheese Board. Both are obvious, but pretty much live up to their reputation. I'd say the same thing about Top Dog, but it's been decades since I ate at either location.

Ooh chez panisse would be great, but I think I missed the boat on reservations. I wonder if I can't still finagle a table for one somehow... Unless @foodguy knows somebody

AMEX concierge is always worth a try to get you in.

Did you try the upstairs cafe?
If you were going to be in the neighborhood anyway, I'd say just drop by and try to squeeze in upstairs, but if it didn't work out that would be a bummer if you'd made a special trip (although there are good fallback options in Berkeley).

My only amex is the SPG one which I do not believe includes the concierge (and I'm not staying in an SPG property with a concierge)... But I am putting the visa signature concierge team to work!

We'll see how they do... Otherwise I am on a cancellation wait list.

It's a shame I'm planning everything on this trip so late (can't see Alcatraz either)... But I'll be back at some point

No reservations needed at Top Dog, and the Northside location is walkable from Chez Panisse. Just sayin'.

Had an awesome meal at the bar at Nopa. Best fresh cannellini beans I've ever seen.

I had had a sherry cocktail and a glass of sherry earlier, so the bartender brought me a glass of this on the house to try with my dessert.

I normally detest sweet sherries, and a little goes a long way, but this was fucking awesome.
