What did you eat last night for dinner? - Page 1634

yeah but it's obviously part of the artistry, so it's ok

i realize that. but i also don't like the presentation, too much weird rim work. it's not an mgm thing, i'd mock it if we were at dinner and that was presented to me. the individual parts look great regardless, and the other things look great too.

I sort of agree, though they are separate complimentary elements which should be separate from the main element of the dish, so the rim serves its purpose. More bread is served on the side on a bread plate.

Oh, by the way, you were out in LA recently, right? Any "must go" places?

i was out there back in June, my brother lives in LA, and I love it there. Hope to go back this summer. Best meal was at Baco Mercat. Have also heard awesome things about Ursawa, and want to go there soon. Rivera was a big recommendation, but it ended up being a total dud for us, which I hear is unusual, so i'm not going to not recommend it (if that makes sense). If anything, spend some time on the coast and just relax.

also, $6 Mexican food in Redondo beach on the PCH. I can give you a name if you want, but your taste buds, bowels, and Tom Ford should be warned.

That's what I'm planning, but I figured while I'm out there I should try one or two good places. Will be there the first week of April, so hopefully I can taste some of them infamous West Coast vegetables I hear so much about. Thanks for the recs.

A friend today recommended a new place being opened by a former chef of Chez Panisse. Standard Fare in Berkley. Maybe foodguy knows more about it..

Honestly, I didn't realize that. I am going to travel a bit over the state by car, starting in San Fran, then down to my cousins in Santa Barbara, then other family/friends in LA. If you think there are things worth me doing on the way, please do let me know.
