thanks. it was a spur of the moment type thing after I saw them at Citarella, and the dish turned out great. Super simple, too.

so last week I went to Ippudo with the aravanel and the ever-macho patrickBOOTH. Started with the pork buns, which were outrageously good, and then pork akamaru ramen. The ramen was also damn good, and it fills you up. The broth was dense and bold, the pork was perfect. The noodles were also top notch, and there was no shortage of teen azn's taking pictures of everything.

unfortunately, the more I think about it (and it bothered me all weekend), the less inclined i feel about returning. The 4 buns and 3 soups cost our table $90 all in. For lunch. That's a LOT of cash for what is basically a glorified version of the product you can buy at any grocery store for 8 cents a pack. It's not like the soup was jam packed with velvety soft pork belly (I had 2 good sized cubes) or the "secret ingredient" was osetra caviar.

by contrast, i actually went to Super Taste the night before (I know, I didn't plan this properly, two different noodle soups in two days), and ordered a box of pork dumplings, spicy beef noodle soup, and vegetable and egg noodle soup. That was $13 all in. Ippudo was certainly much fancier, but i'm not necessarily convinced that it's any better.

Why did you spend the time to count?

TL;DR: The chick most likely lied about the rape.

This sounds delicious.

I don't do this but maybe once a year, but it sure does make the house smell wonderful.
