it's port and cherry and cream/butter, infused with shallot and thyme. insanely rich. one drop is plenty.

I like insanely rich sauces. Preferably ones with a touch of blood, which I've developed a peculiar affinity for.

anybody check out Daniel Boulud's new cook book. I only browsed it in Barnes and Noble, but it looked awesome, and was way more than just high-end recipes. There's a big section written by Bill Buford, so I had to buy it (... on Amazon)

but what do you think of the book.

It's great. The Buford part especially, though it is unfortunate they did not include any actual recipes for the iconic dishes. I think the most exciting part for me is to finally be able to make some of the things I've had at the restaurant at home. The recipes are all very well written.

do you have the cafe boulud book? Opinion?

i've browsed the Cafe Boulud book, and it seems really solid. Lots of classic recipes in there.

the Daniel book was cool because of all of the "extra" sections, starting with the Buford piece and continuing with the part about recipes that aren't from the restaurant but more casual. Some of them looked really good.
