I thought the potatoes were sufficient. Sort of a heavy lunch.

that is my old standby, spicy beef. i find that it's the spiciest right when they bring it to you as the noodles will mellow it out after a few minutes. and damn it's good. i always get the vegetable with egg for my wife.

last time around, I tired the pork rib. also great, but the spicy beef is unbeatable IMO.

^ Is that picture above of the spicy beef noodles?

If so, that looks fucking appetizing as hell. And I just finished a bowl of pasta, so I'm kind of full.

Dat broth..

Yeah, not bad. I thought free water is $5 in NYC smile.gif

50 years ago my Dad used to take me to 68 Mott St in China Town.I still remember him remarking on what a great deal it was to eat for $5 each.

And that was 50 years ago!

PS:Wow,I just googled it, and 68 Mott still exists as restaurant, now called "House of Vegetarian". Anyone ever been there?

What did $5 worth of food get you back then?

A lot. I seem to remember soup, lo mein, and a pork dish. But that's $5 per person, so my Dad was spending $10. Decent money back then.

50 years ago, I was too young for that kind of stuff ( barely smile.gif ) But I remember "older guys" talking about $10 girls on the Bowery. And Clinton and Delancey ( 2 blocks from our apartment ) was very different then. Had a few working girls.

Think of Jodie Foster in the movie Taxi Driver. I guess that takes place in the late 60s, or early 1970s. Harvey Keitel was a LES pimp and Foster was his main girl, and she went for about $20 Is that about right?
